When you visualize challenge in your life, what image comes to mind?

This question originated from the desire to learn how people navigate and understand challenges in their lives. Sometimes, challenge is movable and malleable, a force shaping us into more thoughtful and resilient people. But other times, challenge is solid and immovable, like a brick wall or a weight too heavy to lift.

So far, almost every time I ask this question, I am greeted with a different answer. It sparks conversation, allowing me to understand the forces working for or against the person I am in a relationship with. Visualization is a helpful tool to make something abstract and overwhelming tangible.

I encourage you to ask yourself, what does challenge look like for me?

When you think of being alone in nature, what word comes to mind?

Being outside in nature has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. Most of us can attest to the positive effects of being outside, but how often do we acknowledge the deep-rooted connection between people in the natural world?

I have recently been captivated by the topic of ecopsychology, or the relationship between human well-being and the ecological underpinnings of the natural environment. In an online ubiquitous world, it is easy to forget what can bring us real, deep rest.

Nature brings peace, grounding, and a sense of calm. As we develop character, nature, and time outdoors need to be part of the conversation. Explore the words below and feel free to share your own word or experience of solitude in the natural world.
